Coos Cares actively collaborates with the community.
Harmony House is the result of collaboration with Harmony United Methodist Church. As Coos Cares moves forward we are looking to create new collaborations that will provide more transitional shelter capacity and more affordable housing, not just for our families, but all low-income families in Coos Bay.
Harmony House provides transitional supportive housing to homeless families with dependent children. Each family has their own space and their own plan. We coordinate programs that wrap services to help families become successful. Services include: medical care referrals, mental health wellness referrals, advocacy, case management, job search, assistance applying for public programs and skills building (i.e. employment, parenting, financial and life).
Our Case Manager/Care Coordinator works with several families daily, outside of Harmony House, in a variety of ways. Some needs that are addressed are: employment readiness and job search, housing search, advocacy, assistance applying for programs, help in accessing food and clothing and rides to and from appointments (medical, other agencies, DHS child welfare, interviews, etc.).
